curse the ides of april
Apr. 12th, 2005 10:23 pminsert appropriate profanity here.
Due to my less than stellar income last year (don't ask ...) my federal income tax refund looks to be less than my state income tax bill.
I hate the IRS. I hate the State Tax Department more (this is not directed at any individual working there. It's directed at the Institution and the Tax Code).
I went to print out the tax returns (I owe money, they may chew paper!), which meant using the new (to me) laser printer I just got.
It's not installed yet, so I went to the manufacturer's website and downloaded what I thought was the printer drivers. All was going swimmingly until it asked what the Auto CAD system on the computer.
I don't *do* Computer Aided Design on this machine, I make cross stitch patterns, I play computer games ... I get online and write rude journal entries.
Next, I tried to install the printer driver using windows wonderful (hah!) plug and pl--pray system ... don't use "add new hardware" Use the "add another printer" option. Dig further into the Win98 CD-ROM and finally find the appropriate .cab file.
Jeez I'm a technogeek.
Time spent - most of the evening
Time wasted - about half of the time spent
I dislike being a dork.
