a meme I like
Oct. 3rd, 2008 04:05 pmAs evidenced by Katie Couric's interview, Sarah Palin is unable to name any Supreme Court Case other than Roe v. Wade.
The Rules: Post info about ONE Supreme Court decision, modern or historic to your LJ. (Any decision, as long as it's not Roe v. Wade.) For those who see this on your f-list, take the meme to your own LJ to spread the fun.
Not a strong subject for me, but here's one I haven't seen posted, maybe because it's so obvious?
Dred Scott -Separate but equal upheld ... this one dates to the 1870's, and was overturned less than a century later.
I looked it up, the Dred Scott decision dates to 1856 and was used to strengthen the fugitive slave laws. It held that a slave did not become free by living in a free state.
Changing my mood to annoyed, that I screwed it up.
Plessy v. Fergussson (1896) was the one that upheld "separate but equal" and was overturned (finally) by Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, KS.
