computer update
Nov. 9th, 2007 06:25 pmHard drive hosed, not even recognized as a slave on another machine ... that's seriously hosed.
The company can't sell me a copy of WinXP Pro because they only can sell it as part of a system. That's ethical of them, I admire it even as I grumble at having to go hunting up a copy and a new hard drive.
The company also didn't charge me for the diagnosis, they returned everything, and wished me luck, but told me that they could get a new hard drive for me, but we agreed it's something I can install, so why bother?
I had been planning on going to a computer fair in Northern NJ, but that fell down due to access to newegg.com (thanks
baronan). 150 GB Hard drive and OS on their way, 3 day business service. Approximately half of the cost from Staples.
Not bad.
And the nanowrimo count is 16,358 words. I need to get moving.
